Whether we’re parked at a local business, serving families on the sidewalk, or showing up in neighborhoods that need encouragement, the cart helps us meet people right where they are with kindness, conversation, and prayer. "I went out into the city in early May with the intention of helping people in need. I ran into Side Street Mission who was more organized then me and already at work that day. I felt like God must be up to something, I may have even shed a tear of joy during this encounter. I was invited to the Arise event for a day of helping people in need. My girlfriend and I ended up going to the event and having a really good time. We met some really nice individuals, but also got to see the excess that we have in this world when some people are really struggling. This event was a reminder that nothing brings more joy than helping others. It was also a reminder that people need people and there are positive events happening like this all over despite what the news says. The impact "Arise" had on me goes behind this event. I now have an outlet that allows me to assist someone who maybe struggling through different events in the future and that is very exciting!"

"Serving with Side Street Mission on Saturday, May 16, was a meaningful step of faith for me. I arrived, not knowing where I would be serving, but I felt led to step out of my comfort zone and volunteer outside, handing out meal tickets. What began as an unfamiliar role quickly became a powerful opportunity to interact with our unhoused neighbors—sharing smiles, offering dignity, and connecting in simple but heartfelt ways. It reminded me how God meets us when we’re willing to stretch and how even small acts of service can open the door to compassion and growth."
