Side Street Mission was born out of lived experience and a growing calling.
Through serving on short term mission in New York City, Sweden, and Los Angeles, one common thread became clear: we were called to serve the homeless and the underserved. In those moments, something shifted. People were no longer just faces in passing, they became individuals seen through the eyes of God, each carrying dignity, worth, and a story that mattered. What began as short-term mission work became a deeper conviction, this wasn’t meant to be occasional service, but a lifelong ministry.
After returning home, I began researching the resources available in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. What I found was unexpected. There is no shortage of programs, support systems, and opportunities for those in need. And yet, many people remain disconnected from them, not because they are unwilling, but because they lack the relationships, guidance, and support needed to access what already exists.
That realization led to a step of faith; one we took together.
With my husband’s steadfast support and shared belief in this calling, what God had placed on my heart began to take shape in our lives. Together, we stepped into the streets of downtown Lancaster with a small group, simply meeting people, listening to their stories, and building genuine relationships. What started as small, intentional moments quickly revealed something deeper. Many weren’t just lacking resources; they were lacking connection. They needed someone to walk alongside them, advocate for them, and remind them they are seen, valued, and not alone. My husband didn’t just support this vision, he helped carry it, pray through it, and walk it out alongside me every step of the way.
After much prayer and seeking God’s direction, Side Street Mission was born a calling placed on my heart, brought to life through our shared faith, obedience, and commitment to serve.
Side Street Mission exists to bridge the gap between people and the resources around them by building real, consistent relationships. We believe transformation begins with trust, and trust begins with presence.
Our mission is simple: meet people where they are, walk with them in their journey, and reflect the love of Christ in a way that is tangible, personal, and lasting.
We are here for the overlooked.
The unseen.
The ones on the side streets.
And we believe every life is worthy of connection, dignity, and hope.
